Jerry Sandusky Found Guilty

After 21 hours of deliberation, a Pennsylvania jury has found Jerry Sandusky guilty on 45 out of 48 charges related to child sexual abuse.

The former Penn State University assistant football coach was convicted of sexually abusing nine boys (he'd been accused of abusing 10) over a 15-year period. Sandusky had pleaded not guilty to all 48 charges. He and his lawyer, Joe Amendola, unsuccessfully attempted to convince the jury of insufficient evidence, a conspiracy created by the alleged victims for profit, and biased media coverage of the case.

Sandusky's adopted son, Matt, shocked the court Thursday evening when he said, through his attorney, that he, too, had been sexually abused by his father and would be willing to testify against him. NBC News reports that Sandusky will get at least 60 years in prison.

Carmaker Counters Poop Joke With Smart Twitter Reply

Every automaker is bound to respond differently to an insulting comment lobbed at one of its cars: ignore it; lash out angrily; or just go along with what was said and try to make it funny.

SmartUSA did just that when someone belittled one of their cars on Twitter. Clayton Hove, a participator in and vocal critic of the ad industry, tweeted;

That's Hove's schtick. He has a whole website dedicated to poking fun at ads and products. But Smart USA was neither to roll over and play dead nor flip out in a fit of paranoid rage. They saw his challenge and raised it one.

All jokes aside, there's still the question of how Smart USA reached their conclusions about how much crap it takes to destroy one of their cars. Did they go by weight? Did they go by acidic content? It seems like the former, but I'm not certain. It does make us wonder how much crap it would take to dust off a Prius.

Woman Hit By Baseball To Sue 11-Year-Old Little League Player

Elizabeth Lloyd might be one of the most greedy people on the planet. She is suing Matthew Migliaccio for hitting her in the face with a baseball. Lloyd is 45 and Migliaccio is 13. Wait, what?

Migliaccio was helping a pitcher warm up in the bullpen when his throw got away and hit Elizabeth Lloyd in the face. She suffered multiple facial fractures and her attorney sent Migliaccio a lawsuit in April. She is seeking $153,000 in damages. Sounds a little extreme if you ask me.

The worst part about this is that the Little League is not supporting Matthew Migliaccio. He did not mean to hit Elizabeth Lloyd in his face, but he has to get a lawyer to defend himself from this lawsuit. I can not believe that this is actually happening.

I guess America really is the land where you can sue anyone for anything. I have heard stupid lawsuits, but this might take the cake. If you think an eleven year old is going to intentionally try to injure a lady with a ball to the face, you might have some issues.

I really hope this lawsuit gets thrown out. It sucks that Elizabeth Lloyd was hit in the face with a baseball, but accidents happen. Suing people is not going to make her feel better. Suing a 13 year old is just a way to get bad press and turn a lot of people against you. Drop the lawsuit, please. It’s kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

School Principal Loses Bet, Forced To Dress Like Lady Gaga & Milk A Cow

Principal Justin Vernon, dressed as Lady Gaga, poses with students from the Roger Clap Innovation School. (Tim Geers/WCVB-TV)
Last October, elementary school principal Justin Vernon challenged the 170 students in kindergarten through fifth grade at his public school in the Boston area to read a combined 10,000 books by the end of the academic year. The challenge did not come without some conditions:

"They pushed back on me, saying 'If we're going to have to read all these books to meet our goal, you've got to do something for us," Vernon told local news station WCVB-TV. "Somehow I got stuck with dressing up as Lady Gaga and milking a cow."

Vernon made good on his promise this week when the students at Roger Clap Innovation School in Dorchester exceeded their goal by 3,000 books, averaging more than 75 books per student. To monitor the students – three-quarters of whom qualify for free or reduced-price lunch with a fifth receiving special education services – accountable for their home reading claims, teachers at the school had parents fill out and sign logs.

"Students were always asking 'Is he really going to do it?'" first-grade teacher Tim Apple said. They got their answer when Vernon arrived in a stretch limo wearing high heels, a frilly black dress, tiara, blonde wig and oversized sunglasses and made his way to the school's athletic field, where a cow awaited him.

Coolest. Principal. Ever.

11-Year-Old Boy Leads Church As Ordained Minister

A Maryland boy was ordained as a minister of his Pentecostal church in May.

Ezekiel Stoddard, 11, now serves the Fullness of Time Church, where his parents are also pastors.
Stoddard said he was motivated to become ordained after having a dream in which God told him to read Psalm 23.

He preaches the 11 a.m. service at Fullness of Time, and has preached at other churches in the region. When not in church, Stoddard enjoys basketball, tennis, and going to the movies. He and his brother also have a landscaping business.

"God gave me that particular scripture because a lot of people, they try to draw you away from the lord, trying to get you on the wrong path," he said.
"It doesn't matter the age that you can be licensed. It just matters ... how much word do you have and how much God has called you," he said, referring to the disbelief he sometimes encounters from adults.

Despite the late-night celebration, LeBron is up and at ‘em this morning, and it looks like reality is just beginning to sink in. Posted just now by @KingJames himself, with 32K+ retweets: ”OMFG I think it just hit me, I’m a CHAMPION!! I AM a CHAMPION!!”

Video: Kimbra Records Her First Song As A Kid On TV

You might know her as “the lady from that Gotye song,” but Kimbra has been hard at work on her music career for over a decade. In this clip, Kimbra records her first pop song for the New Zealand TV show, What Now?

One of the most welcome effects of Gotye's smash hit, "Somebody That I Used to Know," has been the introduction of Kimbra. Her debut album, Vows, carries a unique sound that differs from your typical pop record, peppered with a cappella segments and bounding choral arrangements. From a talent that reaches back to her childhood, to the strength of Vows, it seems that Kimbra's career is only going getting started.

If you have yet to hear any tracks off Vows, be sure to watch "Settle Down" - it's a wonderfully strange video, and catchy in all of the right ways.
